The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effectual, and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. We achieve this through the provision of an occupationally aware primary healthcare service which embraces dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.

We are looking for a hardworking, committed Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to come join our supportive and welcoming team at Bulford camp, Salisbury.

This position is advertised as full time offering 37.5 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide an important service for patients (personnel and their dependents), carrying out procedures and supporting patients to live healthier lives. This role supports the strategy and mission statement for Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) to ensure optimum health and wellbeing for patients and maximum deployability.

An important part of the service is clinical care including taking blood samples to be sent laboratory for testing, wound care and health promotion. The Healthcare Assistant also supports the delivery of the service by providing some administrative support, such as ordering clinical supplies.

Another important part of the service is taking ECGs, carrying out pre-medical run ups and audio assessments, donning and doffing 24hr Blood Pressure Monitoring.

The post holder will demonstrate safe care for patients within the medical facility (MF). They will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
