Job summary

Participating in a structured development scheme, you will work within a specialist department in NHS South, Central and West, developing business and management skills, relationship-building and negotiating skills, as well as communication and analytical abilities through action-based learning. You will also develop some specialist skills depending on which area of the organisation you are placed in. Within your role, you may take responsibility (under supervision) for projects or work-streams, utilising your skills and experience to support the development and delivery of innovative, efficient and customer-focused services and products. As a development post, you will be expected to participate in formal and informal personal and professional development activities, with the aim of obtaining a specialist post at the end of the scheme.

A "Meet NHS SCW Graduate" event will be held on Wednesday, 15 January, 16:00 - 17:00, for both internal and external applicants to attend. This event may support your application, so please consider attending.

Main duties of the job

  • Support in the delivery of on time and on budget projects, through effective project management.
  • Contribute to the financial delivery of the agreed portfolio ensuring it is delivered on time.
  • Carry out timely and accurate information analysis and reporting on agreed topics. Present findings in an agreed manner.
  • Develop and maintain databases required by job.
  • Support implementation of project, service or initiative through timely and relevant information analysis, business, and administrative support, in accordance with the agreed priorities of the team.
  • Participate in structured training and development as directed.
  • Undertake opportunities for active and informal learning and development, through the delivery of work projects and initiatives.
  • With support from a mentor and/or departmental managers, identify gaps in personal knowledge and skills, developing plans and seeking opportunities to narrow gaps.
  • Undertake opportunities for networking and business orientation.

About us

There is an essential requirement for onsite working at the office location all or most of the working time. Expenses will not be paid for travel to the assigned office base.

  • You will be required to: Maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders in the pursuit of effectual project delivery. Communicate information and issues, including briefings and reports, to job manager, strategic lead/ strategic manager as appropriate.
  • Work with other Management Trainees across the scheme.
