Job summary

SCW requires an experienced and diligent pharmacy technician with a desire to work within the NHS, ensuring value for public money and helping to improve outcomes for patients. The post holder will join the Medicines Optimisation team, working with the team and relevant Programme Managers to deliver high quality, comprehensive Medicines Optimisation and other related clinical projects. This particular role will include working with NHS England Health and Justice Team on national programmes of work.

Main duties of the job

The role will assist SCW customers in developing legal, safe, cost-effective and best value NHS services. The post holder will ensure that clinical effectiveness and best practice is embedded in their work at SCW.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to work alongside fellow pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to input into the development and delivery of Medicines Optimisation and clinical services which will make a difference to patients.

Main duties of the role include, but not limited to:

  • To deliver Medicines Optimisation projects and other clinical or medicines related projects, and clinical priority setting to customers and to the SCW internal teams.
  • To undertake clinical, quality, and other audits and service evaluations, including report writing.
  • To assist or support SCW customers in the implementation of medicines management initiatives to meet local and national best practice standards.
  • To undertake site visits and face-to-face meetings as required.
  • To communicate and/or present complex clinical and technical information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders where appropriate

Experience in delivery of projects, in particular pharmacy services in the secured environment; and excellent written and verbal communication skills, will be the key elements for the successful candidate. You will be working within a challenging new NHS environment and will need to be highly adaptive, flexible and autonomous.

About us

We are a small team of pharmacy professionals who are passionate about Medicines Optimisation. The post holder will be reporting to a Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist.

The tasks and projects/clinical areas that the team is involved in are varied - so the ideal candidate will need to have a can-do attitude; ability to work alone diligently as well as in a team; and be willing to work on a variety of projects and/or tasks that may be outside of their comfort zone.

There are a range of sites within the SCW footprint and it is possible for the working base for this role to be agreed to suit the ideal candidate. Access to a car and the ability to travel between county-wide locations is essential for this role. This role is Agile and will be a mix of home working, face-to-face meetings and site visits.
