Senior Intelligence Analyst

Job summary

The post-holder will work as part of the Advanced Analytics Unit to provide evidence, tools, analysis and insights in support of national and regional projects. The post-holder will bring, and be supported to further develop, technical analytical expertise and work with decision makers to achieve real impact.

Main duties of the job

They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team across the Advanced Analytics Unit. The post-holder will bring technical expertise across disciplines such as analytics and data visualisation and will champion data-driven decision making. They will undertake analysis to address complex business problems, working with stakeholders and senior leads in the team to scope and lead new projects and communicate complex findings. The post-holder will be passionate about using data to inform decision making and possess excellent technical expertise. The post-holder will have excellent SQL skills and a good understanding of NHS data in order to link data and respond to ad-hoc requests. The post-holder will have good data visualisation skills and be confident in building and maintaining dashboards in Power BI, and collating metrics for dashboards.

  • Gather, analyse and interpret complex information, including both quantitative and qualitative, from a wide range of sources taking account of confidentiality and the limitations of the data used.
  • Link data from multiple sources using SQL
  • Develop and maintain dashboards using Power BI
  • Scope and collate dashboard metrics and respond to ad-hoc data analysis requests
  • Use your knowledge of NHS data to recommend approaches and deliver insight and intelligence to customers
  • Work with a broad spectrum of data from a wide range of sources presenting complex and sophisticated information in a meaningful way to increase organisational knowledge and enable evidence-based decisions.
