Job summary

We are looking for a talented individual to join the Direct Commissioning Integrated Business Intelligence Team; someone who has a drive and passion in delivering an exemplar service and who would like to progress a career in this profession.

You should possess excellent numerical skills, a methodical approach, a high degree of accuracy in their work and the ability to prioritise work. A strong working knowledge and use of Microsoft SQL and Excel is essential.You will be required to provide analytical support and insights to a range of regional stakeholders, regularly engaging in regional and national forums to ensure standardisation and consistency where appropriate. It will include the development of dashboards and ad-hoc reporting utilising a range of technical tools. There may also be line management requirements for this role.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are to provide data and insights, in relation to NHS England Direct Commissioned Services and NHS England Delegated services, to a range of stakeholders. It require a strong technical skill set, including SQL and dashboard development and the ability to confident liaise with and manage a range of stakeholders

Job responsibilities

  • Take a lead on understanding, and supporting Providers to address, Data Quality and Compliance issues within their data
  • Support the delegation agenda
  • Will assist in nurturing relationships with all NHSE Direct Commissioning Functions
  • Will assist in the driving forward the uptake of the NCDR Portal, or equivalent data platform, providing training and support as required.
  • Will actively use NCDR Portal, or equivalent data platform, Dashboards to identify Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE) and proactively produce analysis and insights for the regional commissioning teams.
  • Will provide analytical support to assist Commissioning Analysis Lead to effectively support deep dive work programmes, financial recovery programmes, Improving Value schemes, QIPP, clinical service reviews and other regional / national work streams
  • Will identify and explore reasons for clinical variation utilising nationally produced tools (where they exist) to identify the variation: performing further focused analysis to identify possible reasons for the variation.
  • Will utilise linked datasets available on the NCDR, or equivalent data platform, to generate analysis of clinical data to demonstrate clinical pathways and possibilities for integration with non-specialised areas
  • Utilise modelling and forecasting techniques to predict future need and demand.
  • Will present findings of complex investigation and analysis and recommendations in a clear and intelligible form as presentations or written reports, suitable for a wide range of lay and professional audiences
  • Keep abreast of technological developments and give consideration to the most appropriate tool for the specific task at hand.
