Job summary

The overall purpose of health informatics is to enable, promote and support the effective use of data, insight, and intelligence to improve healthcare outcomes delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a smart, ambitious, and self-motivated individual to join a friendly environment.

We are looking for an individual with an interest in data and analytics, who is keen to establish a career in NHS Health Informatics. You will get the opportunity to learn the basics of NHS data from a commissioner perspective, utilising and developing a wide range of data analytical skills. The postholder will be a strong communicator, have attention to detail and be a great team player. As well as a desire to learn and develop professionally.

The successful candidate will work towards a level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship, resulting in the equivalent of a Higher National Certificate, whilst also gaining valuable training and work experience in a well-established data and analytics service.

This means your salary will be as follows;

Year 1 - 70% of the top of the pay band - £19,317.20

Year 2 - 75% of the top of the pay band - £20,697

Main duties of the job

  • Attend and support operational meetings as required.
  • Performing database queries, both routine and ad-hoc, extracting data for analysis
  • Assisting with the production of a range of ad-hoc and standard data analysis reports, developing excel and technical skills such as SQL.
  • Assisting in the production of routine performance dashboards and reports
  • Assisting with data quality checking and validation reporting
  • To assist in the receipt, input and validation of data sets and returns from Trusts, providers, and other agencies to strict deadlines.
  • To support the Senior Analysts in major work areas to ensure the delivery or core service deliverables and deadlines, working with support, within departmental procedures and referring to senior staff when necessary.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and GDPR principals are understood and adhered to
  • Assist in ensuring all core data flows have been received and will ensure the Commissioning Analysis Teams and customer teams for all DC Functions have been informed.
  • Follow the required report request logging process, including the tracking of Adhocs
