Team
Business Management Team, Strategy Unit
Accountable to
Senior Business Manager
Main duties of the job
The Strategy Unit operates through a team of specialists, who provide expert advice and analysis to health and care service clinicians and managers and policy makers/research funders. We do this on a fee for service basis within our own clearly defined ethos and values. Our operating model depends on effective, high quality business management and communications - both internal and external.
The Strategy Unit operates a project-based model of working: we don't have any central NHS funding but earn our income, like any consultancy, from work that clients commission from us.
The Business Manager will take responsibility for day-to-day functions of the Strategy Unit business and administration, working within the Business Management Team (BMT) and reporting to the Senior Business Manager. The role requires substantial engagement with the wider Strategy Unit team, the host CSU and its various teams, with partners and sub-contractors and with clients.
The post holder will be an employee of the Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU) and as such will be required to uphold and abide by all CSU policies on, for example, Information Governance, Data Protection and Confidentiality; Equality and Diversity; Safeguarding Children and Adults; and Health & Safety (this is not an exhaustive list)
About us
Our team is increasingly diverse and geographically widespread. We value diversity across the team, and recognise that different people bring different perspectives, lived experience, ideas, and culture to The Strategy Unit. We also know that everyone has a life and commitments outside work, and many of the team benefit from our use of flexible working arrangements.
We are based in central Birmingham but work on projects from across the UK and have a hybrid model of working for team members. This means that there is no minimum requirement for working from the office - it is a resource for collaboration and mutual support and not a duty. But coming together to collaborate still matters to us very much, particularly for teams whose work is generally more participative and with a higher degree of client engagement. Some projects also require us to travel to locations across the country occasionally.
