Job summary

NECS is seeking talented pharmacy technicians to join our friendly and supportive team. If you have a passion for delivering excellent medicines optimisation services to NHS, health, and social care organisations, we want to hear from you!

We are a friendly and enthusiastic team dedicated to improving patient care through medicines optimisation. We work with a range of NHS, health and social care organisations, focusing predominantly on providing excellent medicines support for patients in care homes and in receipt of domiciliary care support for their medicines.

We are looking for an experienced pharmacy technician with a passion for patient care. The ideal candidate will be a caring, dedicated, reliable, and patient-focused professional. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will need to interact effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, family members, and care staff. Additionally, you should be a self-motivated individual with the ability to plan and work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the safe use of medicines in care homes and domiciliary care providers, auditing systems and processes for medicines management, developing recommendation reports and handling medicines queries from health and social care providers. You will support training needs in care homes and develop and deliver learning materials, provide expert medicines advice to colleagues and key stakeholders, including supporting with safeguarding concerns involving medicines, and foster integration across health and social care through medicines optimisation.

We offer hybrid working in this role meaning that the successful candidate can work from a mixture of locations including home, NECS offices and customer locations. Your working week is likely to include 2-3 days in care homes, with domiciliary care providers or other health and social care providers, 1-2 days working from home writing up reports, attending online meetings, and supporting queries, and 1-2 days in the NECS office in Middlesbrough, working alongside colleagues.

  • Relevant post qualification experience working as a pharmacy technician in healthcare settings

Skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills including dealing with patients and carers.
  • Able to plan and work independently and manage competing priorities
  • On-going commitment to continuing professional development to maintain theoretical and practical knowledge
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Able to plan own work with a high degree of motivation.
  • Ability to work with others as a team player.
  • Able to prepare and present reports.
  • Able to use information technology e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
