Job summary

We are committed to giving every child the best start in life and this is a crucial leadership role to achieve that ambition as a member of the extended management team in Tameside locality. The postholder will act as the strategic lead for improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Tameside and will drive service developments in line with national directives and multi-agency priorities, ensuring delivery of high quality provision, improved outcomes, and return on investment.

You will drive key programmes of service redesign, innovation and improvement with a wide range of partners and will need to lead and influence others. A proven track record of redesigning services within a complex environment and delivering pathway challenges to ensure high quality, efficient services are delivered locally is essential, along with experience working within Children & Young People services.

Main duties of the job

Working closely across our partnership with the Local Authority, Voluntary Sector and NHS Providers, the successful individual will be passionate about improving outcomes for our Children & Young People. Whilst the role will be employed by NHSGM it will work across the local system with strong relationships integral to success. Key stakeholders include Tameside Council Children's Services, Population Health and NHS partners.

Improve the health and wellbeing of the children and young people of Tameside and Greater Manchester.

Take a lead role in the ongoing transformation of services as part of our Starting Well portfolio.

Work with Children's leadership teams to provide strategic direction for health service development, across primary, secondary and tertiary care and together with partners take forward national policy and guidelines.

Establish a coherent, co-produced integrated programme of work that includes needs assessments, service design, procurement, performance management and outcome measurement across the portfolio.

Ensure that the strategic direction across Greater Manchester and local developments maximise resources to meet the needs of the local population.

Improve the quality of support and services to children, young people and families through co-production with all partners, notably children, young people and their families.

  • Educated to masters level of equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification - health or management related

  • Demonstrable experience of: -Establishing, leading and delivering complex service redesign within agreed timescales -Leading effective partnerships with service users, clinicians and other stakeholders -Production of outcome-focussed service models / specifications -Performance management -Stakeholder engagement (including clinicians, and users / carers) -Delivering and managing change -Budget management and financial planning
  • Experience of leading complex teams and working with senior managers complex and sensitive work programmes
  • Significant demonstrable experience of senior leadership across organisations, including local authority, VCFSE, acute, community and primary care.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading the development of commissioning proposals Direct Commissioning experience
