Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board is responsible for delivering integrated healthcare for South Wales and provides tertiary, acute, intermediate, mental health, community and primary care services on a large scale to the population of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and beyond.

The post holder will operate as an integral member of the capital planning team, will focus on delivery of engineering related schemes associated with Targeted Estates Fund (TEF) and capital projects with Welsh Government and discretionary funding.

The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the briefing process within the Health Board and with the design team (internal and external), including appointment of external team members. The post holder will ensure that auditable procedures and records are kept of all relevant projects.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for managing projects on a day-to-day basis on behalf of the Assistant Director of Capital Planning (Finance). The post holder will ensure that all work is planned, resources are made available, and work is carried out and developed consistent with the principles of the NEC form of Contract. They will produce timely reports, briefings and other communications internally and externally, on the project(s) and/or programme(s) as appropriate. The post holder will assist the capital team leads in developing future plans associated to the health boards infrastructure.

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent in a Building/Engineering discipline, plus specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate course and experience to Masters.
  • Evidence of post qualification learning and continual professional development
  • Knowledge of HBNs and HTMs (and ability to use these as appropriate) Principles of contract management.

Desirable

  • Accredited Project Management qualification.
  • Membership of professional construction/engineering body e.g. RIBA, MRICS, MCIBSE, MCIOB, MIET, MIHEEM, MIMechE.
