The department of Oral and Maxilliofacial Surgery are looking to recruit one/two LAS ST Highers to join the department. The post is to cover a period of maternity leave and LTFT training gaps and will commence on 4th February 2026 until 4th August 2026 or 2nd February 2027 only. This post will form part of the OMFS on call Middle grade level rota at Morriston Hospital.
We have close links with Swansea University and other University College partners in South Wales especially in the areas of research & development and multi-professional teaching.
We place great emphasis on continuous professional development and will actively support you in the development and achievement of personal goals service permitting.
You will provide a clinical service in conjunction with your colleagues under the direction of a Consultant in OMFS, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
You will be required to participate on the on call rota with prospective cover.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to contribute to the OMFS inpatients, day cases and out patients, with an appropriate level of consultant supervision according to your level of experience.
You will provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls or ward referrals.
Although not recognised for training - the successful candidates will have opportunity to participate in teaching, audit and quality improvement projects subject to the needs of the service, alongside the Resident Doctors.
Morriston Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including specialist services serving the local population. These services are supported by critical care facilities, which include a 28 bed general ITU and HDU, a cardiac ITU and HDU, a plastic surgery ITU and HDU and a full range of high quality diagnostic and therapeutic services. The hospital component encompasses a Coronary Care Unit, several General Medical specialties, a well-developed Trauma and Orthopaedic service & a range of General Surgical specialties.
