An opportunity has arisen for an 8b psychologist post (0.4FTE) to support the psychological provision for OMIC (Offender Management in Custody Model) in HMP Parc.
A key aspect of the role will be a needs analysis of the Parc OMIC cohort to contribute to service development for the OMIC service in Parc provided by the OPDP.
The role will support OMIC staff in their management of high risk offenders screened into the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway.
Provision is already in place to support staff who undertake screening and level one formulations. This role will provide additional support around these areas and post formulation, depending upon the outcome of the needs analysis
The role is likely to involve liaison with other treatment and community sites to support transition and progression. There will also be opportunities for joint working with service users and prison-based staff where appropriate.
The post holder will liaise with the OPDP community team, building relationships and support the wider aims of the OPDP in Wales. There will also be requirements for supervision and staff support where necessary and to contribute to ongoing service development and evaluation.
Main duties of the job
To provide psychological support and oversight for OMIC (Offender Management in Custody Model) on a 0.4 FTE basis within HMP Parc.
To support OMIC staff in their management of high risk offenders screened into the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway.
To provide support to OMIC staff who undertake screening and level one formulations through supervision, training and provision of ongoing clinics to review cases. To undertake Level 2 and level 3 formulations where required as identified by the Prison Offender Managers.
The role will involve training and workforce development of Offender Managers and relevant prison staff, through consultation, to enable an understanding of the psychological aspects of a client's risk and the development of psychologically informed formulations, risk management and sentence plans.
The core aspects of the role centre on consultation and formulation, staff support, training and development relating to personality disorder and the needs of OPDP service users. There will also be opportunities for joint working with service users and prison based staff where appropriate.

- Good Honours degree in Psychology. Eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartered status. Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society. Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist, and eligible for full membership of a BPS division of applied psychology (e.g. clinical, counselling, forensic) Clinical supervision training for supervising Doctoral trainees.
- Doctoral level advanced specialist knowledge of clinical psychology theory and practice, psychological therapies and their application, neuropsychological and psychometric assessment and interpretation.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practised within clinical psychology. Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development as recommended by the BPS and HCPC.
Desirable
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
- Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
