This post is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technician to join our friendly pharmacy team in delivering a high-quality pharmacy service to our patients.
The successful candidate will work between clinical services (ward and dispensary), specialising in cancer services directorate work. We are a department that is committed to the extended role of technicians and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department.
Applicants will hold a valid BTEC & NVQ level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
If you have the ability to work using your own initiative, have good communication skills, a high level of accuracy and are keen to develop your skills this is the job for you!
The pharmacy team has a proven track record of innovation and delivering excellent patient care as part of the wider MDT. You will be joining a supportive team where the focus is about working hard but having the correct work life balance.

Main duties of the job
Main duties include:
1. Provide a medicines management service to an inpatient ward including drug history, and medicines reconciliation.
2. Responsible for safe, efficient and effective checking of prescriptions dispensed by other members of the pharmacy team in the dispensary and on the ward (including Clinical Trials as needed).
3. Supporting and monitoring the supply of the systemic anti cancer therapies to inpatients, day units and outpatients. Providing specialist counselling as needed.
4. Being part of the ward MDT and the wider pharmacy team. This includes being part of the pharmacy weekend and bank holiday rota.
