We are looking for a forward-thinking highly motivated Pharmacist with significant experience of commercial clinical trials work within a hospital environment. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful management and execution of our commercial clinical trial pipeline. You will lead, direct and develop our dynamic pharmacy clinical trials service both now and into the future. The post holder will build and expand the portfolio of commercial cancer and non-cancer trials whilst ensuring compliance with International Conference on Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), Clinical Trials Regulations, the Research Governance Framework and other relevant guidelines and policies. Also you will be expected to provide expert advice to the UHB's Research & Development Team, Chief Investigators & Principal Investigators in respect of all aspects of IMP manufacture, procurement and the use of and adherence to associated legislation.
The postholder would be expected to strategically lead on the R&D Pharmacy Clinical Trials agenda, working alongside medical and nursing peers and the wider Pharmacy and R&D department as appropriate. You will be based within the Singleton Pharmacy Department but have the flexibility to work across our delivery settings.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for professionally leading, directing and developing the delivery of safe, comprehensive, cost-efficient Pharmacy Services for Health Board (HB)for Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products.
To ensure the Health Board (HB)Pharmacy Clinical Trials service is compliant with relevant EU and UK clinical trial legislation and will:
Lead and manage the pharmacy clinical trials team.
Manage, develop and be responsible for clinical trials pharmacy services for Swansea Bay University Health Board.
Support the chief pharmacist in developing, in an innovative way, the overall strategy for research and development and clinical trials agenda at SBUHB in a manner that reflects pharmacy, Health Board, regional and NHS Wales national strategic priorities.
Work in conjunction with the principal pharmacists (clinical, technical and digital services) and quality assurance specialists to develop the provision of an efficient, high quality, professional and well-coordinated pharmacy service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements relating to clinical trials.
Provide expert advice to the Health Board's research and development department and clinical trials principal investigators in respect of all aspects of IMP manufacture, procurement and use and of adherence to associated legislation.
Lead pharmacy support at MHRA GCP inspections ensuring access to documentation.
