You will be a CCAB fully qualified accountant, with experience of operating at a senior management level, experience of leading a team and a high level to technical expertise. You also will have excellent interpersonal, presentation, analytical and critical thinking skills and have experience of dealing with difficult situations and the ability to manage conflict in a positive and professional manner. You will be a compassionate and strategic leader and be able to effectively communicate and build strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Main duties of the job
The post reports to the Deputy Director of Finance, working strategically with limited guidance, managing complex and sensitive information daily. They will deputise for the Deputy Director of Finance when needed. As a senior member of the Finance Department and Health Board, the role involves collaborating with Executive Directors, senior managers, clinical leaders, and external partners, including the Welsh Government and use their professional judgement in communicating and advising across all levels of the Health Board. Responsibilities include interpreting national strategies, developing local policies, implementing financial procedures, proposing changes, and providing strategic financial advice across the Health Board. The post holder must ensure clear communication of financial guidance to Independent Members, Executive Directors, Clinicians, Senior Managers, and Budget Holders. The role requires assimilating complex information, making decisions without expert opinion, seeking peer advice, and having significant autonomy to manage workload variations. Representing the Health Board on regional and national committees, they must act independently to achieve objectives through strategic planning, financial management, and policy development. This role leads on four key areas: Service Intelligence & Costing Commissioning & Contracting Strategic Financial Planning & 10-year modelling Strategic Savings opportunities for Health Board
