Community Learning Disability Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Learning Disability Nurse to join the Cardiff Community Learning Disability Team.

The Registered Nurse will have an understanding of the knowledge and skills of the professional activities within a Community Support Team within the field of Learning Disabilities.

You will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload and will liaise with both social and healthcare professionals to meet client need.

You will supervise junior team members and their caseloads by implementing clinical and service pathways and adhering to legislative frameworks.

You will participate in systems and structures, which promote the rights, responsibilities and diversities of people with a learning disability.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will promote the health and wellbeing of clients by providing specialist nursing assessments, advice and training to clients, their carer's and other professionals.

The post holder will be involved in the key clinical aspects of providing care, coordinating and reviewing care packages and supervising others.

  • Experience/knowledge of risk management
  • Experience of working with families
