The department of Nuclear Medicine at Singleton Hospital (part of Swansea Bay University Health Board) is a busy academic imaging department operating two diagnostic state-of-the-art SPECT/CT cameras, two bone densitometry (DXA) scanners, a brand new, purpose-built, radio pharmacy, a therapy section and a mobile PET/CT service. The Singleton Hospital is situated next to the sea in Swansea, and is also adjacent to the Singleton University campus.
We are seeking an exceptionally motivated individual to join our friendly and dynamic team. The post holder will be required to contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the Nuclear Medicine Reception Offices, particularly the bone densitometry service reception, and to provide the clerical and administrative functions associated with the work undertaken in Nuclear Medicine. The post holder will also be required to provide patient support and to ensure their welfare when in the Nuclear Medicine Service.
Main duties of the job
Nuclear Medicine is a highly specialized service providing Radiopharmaceuticals, Diagnostic Investigations, Radionuclide Therapy, PET/CT and DXA scans to patients of Local Health Boards in the South West Wales Area.
Within this service the post holder will be part of a highly skilled team involved in the provision of the diagnostic and DXA service in South West Wales, providing support to colleague clerical officers in the provision of the DXA services in Nuclear Medicine. The post-holder will be the initial contact in the patient journey within Nuclear Medicine.
The post holder will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Nuclear Medicine Reception Offices, and to provide clerical, administrative and healthcare support functions associated with the daily work of DXA.
The post holder will be expected to liaise with technical, nursing staff and patients to deliver an efficient nuclear medicine service with main focus on scheduling of appointments.They will be expected to manage the entry of patient data onto specific databases, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
