Supporting and assisting the Dental Health Educator in implementing and monitoring the Designed to Smile Programme.Support and assist in the implementation and monitoring of the Welsh Government funded Designed to Smile Programme.Provide basic oral health messages and promote positive oral health behaviours to clients/guardiansParticipate in the Local Health Board's individual performance review process to ensure continued professional development.Clean programme related equipment as and when necessaryResponsibility to treat all records created, maintained, used or handled as part of their work within the Local Health Board in confidence (even after an employee has left the Local Health Board). This includes all records relating to patient health, financial, personal and administrative, whether paper based or on computer.
Main duties of the job
Planning and DesignCoordinate own workload, resolve day to day issues with stakeholder contact and provide general information regarding the Designed to Smile Programme. Be involved in Health Promotion initiatives such as promotional events, study days, and patient related activities, under the direction of the manager.Improvement, Monitoring, Policy/Service DevelopmentParticipate in the ongoing evaluation and monitoring of Designed to Smile contributing to service developmentComply with the Local Health Board's Risk Management Policy, Health and Safety Policy and other associated policies and to actively participate in this process, having responsibility for managing risks and reporting exceptions.Responsibility to conform to procedures, rules and codes of practice; and to use properly and conscientiously all safety equipment, devices, protective clothing and equipment which is fitted or made available, and to attend training courses as required. CommunicationMake contact with and liaise with schools and nurseries to gain consent to enable the delivery of the Designed to Smile Programme.Travel to schools/settings across the HB area to develop and maintain good working relationships and communication with all stakeholders including families, health professionals, dental teams, educational and childcare establishments.Report any concerns immediately to the manager.Undertake admin service to ensure service provision of effective/efficient service. Support with administrative duties and data collection necessary for the Designed to Smile Programme. Attend staff meetings and updates when requiredManagement, Training & LeadershipSupervise and support the activities within the Designed to Smile toothbrushing programme ensuring the appropriate protocols are adhered to e.g. appropriate quantity of toothpaste is used, ensure that cross contamination is minimized and appropriate measures are in place.Finance and BudgetResponsible for collecting and monitoring stock levels and be accountable for security of stockDigital and InformationMaintain confidentiality in relation to personal and patient information, as outlined in the contract of employment, the post holder may access information only on a need to know basis in the direct discharge of duties and divulge information only in the proper course of duties.
