Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Digital Programme Manager to the Digital Programmes department at Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Digital Services are integral to the Health Board's clinical services plan, and play a key role in supporting thousands of staff to provide effective services.We help clinical staff manage and monitor patients throughout their care through the provision of digital applications, infrastructure, intelligence and processes.

The successful candidate will manage a programme of digital projects.Reporting to the Head of Digital Planning for Patient Flow and Diagnostics, these may include:

  • Development of the patient flow and theatre management digital systems
  • Replacement of the pathology and radiology digital systems
  • New flows of diagnostic requests & results across several diagnostic specialties

The post holder will work alongside clinical and operational colleagues and other Digital Programme Managers to ensure successful programme delivery to ensure digital processes and solutions are embedded to enable full benefits realisation.The post holder will also be required to work with Digital Health and Care Wales and other NHS Wales/partner organisations.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and its use to improve quality of care and patient safety.You will be highly organised, enthusiastic, motivated and able to work closely with staff at all levels to ensure project delivery.

Main duties of the job

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING

Lead and manage major initiatives or programmes involving a portfolio of projects undertaken by the Digital Services Directorate, ensuring that they are coherent and balanced with a strong focus on delivery and implementation of products and services.This will include:

  • Projects identified as part of the Health Board's Digital Services annual objectives, which will involve planning and implementing a broad range of activities and new ways of working.
  • Collaboration on Nationally led projects with Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) and other Health Boards.
  • Support of service modernisation service improvements through theimplementation of technology
  • Take responsibility for the production of plans, documentation, support, guidance and training for project teams and staff within and across sites throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead on a range of operational/strategic plans for performance improvement in new areas across sites, including diagnostic work in order to develop solutions and imparting sometimes unwelcome news to generate need for change.
  • Manage Project Teams and work with other project managers in the production of plans, documentation and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, using agreed Performance Improvement Team/Step Change project documentation.
  • Act as a budget holder for highly complex, highly sensitive projects.
