Job summary
The post holder will help achieve positive media coverage for Swansea Bay Health Charity (SBHC) supporting effective reactive media relations, responding to media requests/calls from journalists as appropriate. This involves exchanging complex, sensitive or contentious information, where barriers to understanding may exist or co-operation is required. Collate material for replies for inquiries that require approval from a senior team member, ensuring queries are answered quickly, highly efficiently and effectively. Refering calls to other members of the team as necessary.
Assisting with the Charities administration of email & letter correspondence, as well as event planning.
Main duties of the job
Working autonomously the post holder is a key member of the Charity Team who will support the maintenance and promote the profile of Swansea Bay Health Charity amongst staff, patients, stakeholders, media and the general public.

- Ability to work without direct supervision, acting on own initiative where appropriate, preempting problems and offering potential fixes. Ability to manage own workload including multiple priorities and to work to tight deadlines.
- Video/digital editing skills
- Excellent written skills, able to write accurate, engaging copy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships at all levels
- A proficient user of digital and social media, and ability to adapt to the changing media landscape.
- Graphic design skills using desktop publishing packages
- Awareness of communications, marketing and/or PR procedures, techniques and approaches
- Understanding the production of artwork/materials
- An understanding of how the media works.
- Knowledge of the local area
- Ability to travel within geographical area, driving license and use of Vehicle

- Experienced Welsh Speaker & translator

- Educated to a degree in a related area (communications; marketing; PR; journalism) or equivalent work experience in a communications/marketing environment.

- Understanding of best practice and industry standards around writing for digital and online audiences, including blogs, websites, and online publications.
- 3 A levels or NVQ
- Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office
- Previous Charitable Work
- Media / Communication skills Knowledge of communications, public relations or marketing theory and practice.
- Experience of working with complex information and adapting it for different audiences.
- Experience of working in a large and complex organisation, with a wide range of people at all levels, developing relationships and providing a responsive communications service, both internally and externally.
