Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative trainer, to become the Lead Physical Interventions Trainer, within the Physical Interventions and PBS Training Department, which sits in the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Service Group (SBUHB). The role will have a particular focus on Restrictive Physical Interventions Training, for staff working across all Mental Health and Forensic Mental Health services.

The RPI training curriculum has recently achieved BILD ACT certification against the RRN Training Standards, bringing the training in line with our highly regarded PBM ABMU training. The Lead Trainer will be responsible for building on this success, leading on the ongoing development of operational frameworks and curriculum design. The Lead Trainer will monitor quality and ensure that training iswell-informed, evidence based and meets the needs of individuals and of the service, whilst remaining compliant with the RRN Training Standards and upholding our commitment to reducing restrictive practices.

The Lead Trainer willbe responsible for facilitating ongoing opportunities to work closely with staff teams and patients across the Service Group, to fully achieve the duties of the role. Including managing incoming referrals, developing bespoke interventions, carrying out observations, participating in MDT activities and representing the department at a variety of forums.

Main duties of the job

To develop, monitor, deliver and evaluate physical interventions training, including patient population specific training.

To ensure ongoing training compliance against the RRN Training Standards and be responsive to developments within these Standards.

To facilitate Train the Trainer Workshops and Trainer Re-certifications.

To complete and evaluate Training Needs Analysis for all areas commissioning the training.

To conduct and collate training audits.

To provide advice, guidance and mentorship to all other Physical Interventions Trainers

To provide advice, guidance and support in relation to queries that are received by the Physical Interventions Training team.

To provide practical support as required in relation to more complex clinical cases.

To be an advocate for restraint reduction and contribute to the broader Reducing Restrictive Practices agenda, including representing the training team in local forums and events.

To identify and contribute to research projects.

To identify, contribute to and facilitate service improvement/quality improvement.
