Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to become part of the Child Psychology Department in Swansea Bay. This is a permanent, part time post, comprising of 3 days (0.6 WTE/22.5 hours) supporting the The Community Paediatric - Children's Centre Psychology.
The Community Paediatric - Children's Centre Psychology post supports children with additional needs who receive their care in the two local community children's centres. The post holder will become a valued member of the team, working alongside the Lead Clinical Psychologist. The post holder will help the Lead Psychologist to assess the psychological needs of children with additional needs and their families. They will also assist in developing the service to maximise the psychological support and interventions available to these families across the Health Board and within the community.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant Psychologist will support the Lead Psychologist with continuing to understand the needs of the services, including developing digital resources, undertaking audit and service development. There will also be lots of opportunities to work with staff groups and be part of an MDT. The post holder will work directly and indirectly delivering therapeutic interventions with children, young people and families under the supervision of the Lead Psychologists.
The post holder will be expected to work across the two children's centres based in Singleton Hospital, Hafan y Mr and Neath Port Talbot Hospital (NPTH) as part of the service.
The service is part of Swansea Bay's growing Child Psychology Department. We are a friendly and supportive network of psychologists working with babies, children, young people and families. All team members are supported to develop their skills and competencies. We meet regularly as a full group for reflective practice, CPD and business updates and there are opportunities for peer support from other Assistant Psychologists within the department. We also have close links with the South Wales Clinical Doctorate Programme.
