SBUHB Adult Speech and Language Therapy team present two exciting full time band 6 job vacancies.
One post will deliver Speech and Language Therapy provision to the acute neuro-medical service (4 days a week) and head and neck cancer service (1 day a week). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver communication and dysphagia intervention to patients from a wide range of specialisms.
The other post is for our stroke service and includes opportunities to work across the whole stroke pathway - acute, rehabilitation and early supported discharge. All parts of the pathway include experienced MDTs allowing for stimulating and creative opportunities for interdisciplinary and MDT working.
There are strong working links across the whole SLT department with opportunities to develop clinical skills and expand professional development with support from specialist colleagues and SLT Clinical Leads. We prioritise service development and evidence based practise and run SLT led SVR, FEES and videofluoroscopy clinics.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit hard-working, ambitious and dynamic Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists, ideally with experience of working in stroke or the acute setting or with demonstrable transferrable skills.
The successful candidates will be forward thinking and pro-active with excellent organisational and clinical skills to work within a fast paced clinical settings. They will be compassionate, flexible, dynamic and innovative with exceptional communication, time-management and team working skills.
The post holder will be an autonomous clinician with excellent prioritisation skills; able to manage a specialist clinical caseload of patients on a daily basis. They will be responsible for the delivery of assessment and treatments for their caseload; providing specialised therapy advice to members of the MDT.
They will deliver a specialist service with a keen focus on admission avoidance, patient flow, differential diagnosis and providing exceptional patient centred assessment and intervention. This includes multi-disciplinary working from the point of admission through to comprehensive assessment and management and discharge planning with Speciality Consultants and community partners.
