Job summary

We are looking to appoint a DXA specialist clinical scientist to lead the DXA section of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Singleton Hospital in Swansea. The post-holder will work towards ensuring the sustainability and development of the DXA reporting sub-section of the department. The ideal candidate will be a qualified clinical scientist with current HCPC registration and with demonstrable experience in DXA.

The successful candidate will be ensuring that DXA reporting and scanning is performed in a timely manner, meeting departmental' s KPI and to Royal Osteoporosis Society standards. This is an exciting opportunity to lead change in a currently fast developing setting.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will undertake DXA image validation, evaluation and reporting (and other reporting activities within the department in line with their scope of practice) and will have a leading role in departmental development and management, in conjunction with key senior staff, specifically working closely with the Head of Department, Chief Clinical Technologists, CT Lead Radiographer, other clinical scientists and Consultants. The workload will include DXA reporting, service management, development and research. Workload split adjustments will be needed to ensure adequate cross-cover levels in periods of absence (annual leave, sickness, or others), or as required by senior departmental management. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and deliver long-term service change and improvements.

Nuclear Medicine at Singleton is a friendly and progressive service. The Department is accredited by IPEM for training and has links to Swansea and Cardiff University through research and formal academic teaching. Continuing professional development of all staff is encouraged and supported. Full training in Nuclear Medicine will be provided to a suitable candidate.
