Job summary
An exiting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to work in the busy main Outpatients at Neath/Port Talbot Hospital.
A Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Department is responsible for overseeing the running of all clinics and supervising clinic staff, mentoring students and assisting the Outpatient Sisters in the general running of the department.
The role also includes, carrying out clinical procedures such as bladder scans, pre op swabbing and post operative wound dressings, also assisting clinicians with procedures.
Main duties of the job
The role of the registered nurse in Outpatients is to oversee the running of the various clinics held in the department, these include, ENT, Ophthalmology, general medicine, orthopaedic, spinal, general surgery and cardiology.
The role requires the registered nurse to work closely with Consultants and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the smooth running of clinics and to supervise other team members such as HCSW's and student nurses.
The role requires the registered nurse to act as an advocate for the patient during their visit and to carry out various clinical tasks such as dressings, visual acuity and OCT pictures on eye clinic and the administration of medications such as eye drops and injections for various clinics.
The role includes the facilitating of the nurse led post operative wound clinic.
The successful candidate will be required to mentor students and new staff members and to take charge of the department in the absence of managers.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
