Job summary
A rare opportunity has become available for a physiotherapist with neurological experience to join a specialist team on the neurological rehabilitation unit in Swansea Bay.
The neurological rehabilitation unit (NRU) is a 14 bedded unit offering specialist multidisciplinary rehabilitation to patients with complex presentation following events such as traumatic or acquired injury, stroke, Guillan-Barre and other neurological conditions.
The team is supported by consultants in rehabilitation, neuropsychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, orthotics and spasticity services. There are close links with other health boards as this a regional service covering South West Wales.
There is the opportunity to access hydrotherapy, have joint problem solving with orthotists and rehab engineering teams. Specialist wheelchair and seating assessment experience would be beneficial.
Main duties of the job
Come and work in beautiful Swansea Bay, with fabulous coastline, outdoor pursuits, and mountain walking all within easy travelling distance.
Many of our senior team are educated to Masters level, or above, affording fantastic opportunities for CPD.
We have long established links with both Cardiff University, for undergrad and post- grad Physio education, including the provision of student placements. More recently, we have had opportunities to develop new relationships with the School of Health Science, and School of Medicine at Swansea University, both in terms of accessing post-grad courses, supporting research projects, and providing teaching and education to medical students.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
