An exciting opportunity to join Swansea Bay University Health Board's Maternity Services as our Band 7 Clinical Risk Midwife has arisen.
Our Maternity Services are spread over two sites with the Obstetric Unit in Singleton Hospital and the Stand-Alone Midwifery Unit in Neath Port Talbot Hospital.
We welcome applications from experienced midwives for this role, which will give you the opportunity to join our amazing maternity services multi-disciplinary team.
This position will be based at Singleton Hospital although there will be a requirement to work across both our sites.
Main duties of the job
Work as an autonomous practitioner responsible for supporting the multidisciplinary team in implementing effective governance and risk systems across maternity services.
Take a lead role in the management of governance related topics, following a robust process that identifies potential harm, supports the implementation of patient safety initiatives and contributes to improving quality and safety within the service.

Essential
- Registered Midwife with active NMC Registration
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience or evidence of post registration study
- Knowledge of understanding of current professional midwifery issues
- Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children including the Social Services & Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, Wales Safeguarding Procedures 2019, Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse & Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015, Mental Health Act (1983)
- Knowledge and understanding of the national patient quality and safety agenda
- Knowledge and understanding of the reporting requirements to external bodies
Desirable
- Evidence of Master's Level education

- Substantial clinical midwifery experience in all settings
- Experience of multi-professional working
- Evidence of delivering compassionate, patient-focussed and women-centred care and using service user engagement and feedback to improve services
