Job summary
The South Wales Trauma Network are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and innovative individuals to undertake a 3 year fixed term contract as Deputy Clinical Director & Clinical Governance Lead. The roles will include working with organisations and providers across South Wales, West Wales and South Powys.
The post holder will lead, enable and facilitate the provision of safe, effective evidence based care provided to patients across the network, working closely on all aspects of clinical governance and patient safety in liaison with the MTC, trauma units, local emergency departments and pre-hospital providers.
This role will be expected to work closely with:
- Clinical director for the network.
- Network manager and clinical and managerial leads across the network.
- Network leads for paediatrics, education and training lead, quality improvement and research and rehabilitation.
- WAST and EMRTS.
- Partner organisations (e.g. emergency planning).
- Commissioning bodies.
Main duties of the job
The network includes all providers of trauma care including pre-hospital care, hospital and rehabilitation services. The network collaborates in ensuring consistency of standards of care driven by agreed policies, protocols and procedures applied across the network, and the involvement of all network members in a programme of continuous quality improvement informed by consistent clinical data captured through TARN and other appropriate audit and clinical governance mechanisms. The development of a culture of openness, learning and shared accountability and responsibility will be a key enabler to the effective working of the network and the consequent improvement in patient outcomes.

- Full GMC registration
- CCT in appropriate speciality (Anaesthesia/EM/ICM/Relevant Surgical Specialty) AND in a substantive consultant post in Wales
- Significant experience in managing of seriously injured patients
Desirable
- Higher Degree (MD/MSc) in trauma care (Resuscitation /Trauma Sciences)
- Post graduate qualification in medical education
Skills
Essential
- Competence in the management of seriously injured patients.
- Good understanding of the principles of clinical governance
