Health Care Support Worker - Minor Injuries

Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic health care support worker to join our expanding team. The successful applicant will be based at the Minor Injury Unit, Neath Port Talbot Hospital. Our unit consists of a consultant nurse, matron, emergency nurse practitioners, triage nurses, health care support workers, receptionists. plus ancillary staff and radiology colleagues who are an extended part of our team. Our service caters to children and adults with a range of minor injuries.

Main duties of the job

Ideally, applicants will have previous experience of working in a minor injury setting and be competent in wound care including gluing wounds and applying steri-strips, splinting, basic casting application, venepuncture and measuring vital signs and ECGs.

The successful applicant will be expected to be flexible in their approach to work, demonstrate initiative and be a team player. You will work under the supervision and guidance of registered nurses as well as work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.

Applicants must be prepared to work flexibly to ensure the service is operational between 07:30-00:00 hours.
