We are excited to invite applications for the sixth cohort of the successful Swansea Bay University Health Board Graduate Trainee Manager Development Programme - 'Graduate Gateway'.

Do you have an ambition to become a leader in the NHS and make a difference to the people of Swansea Bay University Health Board? Our two-year, work based Graduate Gateway Programme is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring leaders.

We are seeking to recruit five individuals with the talent, drive and desire to achieve in our complex and fast-paced health care environment.

Main duties of the job

You will take part in a two-year development programme which includes opportunities for personal and professional development; you will participate in action learning sets, attend coaching and mentoring sessions, and undertake challenging work placements that introduce practical management and leadership skills and behaviours. You will be encouraged to succeed, making the most of your skills and talents.

Depending on your existing degree qualification, you will be supported to work towards a funded level 5 qualification in business, project management or leadership and management.

If you are an SBUHB employee this post can be offered on a secondment basis, you will need to have gained your line manager's approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.

The Health Boards Graduate Gateway Programme will introduce participants to challenging work placements, incorporating aspects of frontline leadership and management in each of the five service groups.

The post holder will be expected to develop a range of personal and professional skills and behaviours as an integral part of their successful performance in the job. This aspect of performance will be assessed during the programme. The post holder will be supported in their personal development through formal activities and opportunistic events and be guided by the programme manager, placement manager and their executive and senior management mentors.

The role will involve providing project management, administrative and managerial support, encompassing a broad range of activities in a number of areas, including, for example, evaluating activity and waiting time information and data, writing business cases, compiling staff rotas and managing administrative and clerical staff.
