Job summary

We are looking to recruit an experienced mental health professional to join our team. The post is in Dechrau Newydd Complex Needs Service based in Tonna Hospital, Neath.

This post offers Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to adults with complex needs and a diagnosis of Emotionally unstable personality disorder across the Swansea Bay University Health Board locality and Bridgend.

The successful candidate will provide assessment and intensive DBT in the form of individual sessions and group work. The post includes contributing to broader aims of the service and joint working to offer consultation to services working with individuals with complex needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join an established service which includes a Clinical Psychologist, Team Manager and Psychological Therapists. We are a tertiary service and sit under the Mental Health and Learning Disability Directorate. We have close links with inpatient services and Community Mental Health teams across Swansea Bay University Health Board.

The Service is dynamic and supportive service with a range of clinical interests and developments. We are committed to CPD, supervision and we encourage innovation and development.

To provide psychological treatment to clients with complex mental health needs within the Dechrau Newydd Complex Needs Service, working as part of the team delivering a high quality, specialist service.

The scope of the job is to manage a complex caseload and deliver high fidelity high intensity psychological therapy (DBT), in accordance with Matrics Cymru, NHS protocols and the professional, ethical framework of relevant professional bodies e.g. United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), British Council for Psychotherapy (BCP), British Association of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (BABCP), or other relevant professional bodies as designated within Matrics Cymru (e.g., HCPC, NMC)

  • To have completed one year of recognised full-time (or equivalent part-time) psychotherapy or counselling training, leading to a qualification, certification or accreditation recognised by a relevant professional or regulatory body e.g. UKCP, BABCP, BACP, HCPC, NMC

  • Mental Health professional background. Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. Psychology.

Qualifications

  • To be a member of a relevant professional or regulatory body, and continue to fulfil any of its accreditation or membership criteria.

Experience

  • To demonstrate experience of psychological therapy services within the NHS or in the private or voluntary sectors

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities and severely challenging behaviours etc.)
