This is a fixed term post for 6 months to meet the needs of the service.

There is an exciting opportunity for two Assistant Psychologists to join Swansea Bay UHB CAMHS. This is a new role, and the post holders will be supervised by a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, working alongside them. The Assistant Psychologists will join the CAMHS Psychology and Psychological Therapy team. This is a supportive group of practitioners including psychologists, another assistant psychologist, family therapists, CBT therapists, art therapists and a play therapist. Within these roles there will be opportunities for service development, direct clinical work, group work, developing resources, managing data and undertaking audit.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Psychologists, along with the Clinical Psychologist, will develop and deliver brief psychological interventions as part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT). ATT delivers assessment and brief interventions to children and young people referred to Swansea Bay UHB CAMHS who are experiencing mental health difficulties. They are a multi-disciplinary team offering groups, workshops and one to one interventions. The role is likely to include joint work with other members of the team, such as supporting in the delivery of groups, alongside specific psychology interventions. The psychologists will also deliver training to members of ATT as well as other teams within CAMHS offering early and brief interventions. The work of psychologists in CAMHS is guided by a number of national documents, including the Mental Health Measure, Matrics Plant, and the NEST/NYTH framework.

All psychologists and psychological therapists (P&PT) in CAMHS belong to a wider group of child P&PT, working across our regional surgical services, child health and child development services. This is a friendly professional network, including 7 other assistant psychologists, with regular opportunities for reflective practice and CPD.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
