Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Dietitian to join the Nutrition and Dietetic Service in Swansea Bay University Health Board as the Children and Young People's Clinical Lead Dietitian including a neonatal caseload. The post is permanent, full time (working 37.5 hours per week).

You will provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership to the health board wide Dietetic Children and Young People Service including dietitians, dietetic support workers and support staff. You will be responsible for the delivery of the paediatric inpatient, outpatient and community services ensuring operational and performance management across the Health Board.

Within the role you will have clinical responsibility to establish a Dietetic Service within the Neonatal Unit based in Singleton Hospital. The post is funded by Neonatal Services for 2 days per week and is an exciting opportunity to establish a service.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applicants who have previous experience of working within a neonatal service but would support the development of the necessary skills in this area for the right applicant. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to support patients with highly complex needs with transferable skills around early infant nutrition, enteral tube feeding and gastroenterology.

You will be able to demonstrate clinical leadership and experience of working across a range of clinical settings. You will also take the lead for designated strategic developments and innovation across the Health Board, as agreed with Head of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics degree or equivalent.
  • MSc or equivalent level of advanced paediatric post registration training.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Knowledge

Essential

  • MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced post graduate paediatric experience.
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of specialist knowledge across a wide range of clinical areas within Paediatrics.
  • Knowledge of human resource issues such as recruitment & retention, appraisal, performance management.
  • Specialist knowledge in specialist clinical area leading to the ability to critically appraise evidence and offer originality in tackling and solving problems.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a specialist Paediatric Dietitian working in the NHS with experience of service delivery in a variety of different clinical settings including acute and community.
  • Experience of supervising and developing less experienced / more junior staff.
