Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our acute adult mental health service in Swansea Bay University Health Board. This post is particularly suited to a motivated and recovery focussed Occupational Therapist.
Successful applicants should demonstrate the ability to maintain high standards of patient care and be responsible for the promotion and application of Occupational Therapy in this setting, underpinned by the use of Model of Human Occupation (MOHO). We are seeking a flexible and highly motivated Occupational Therapist who is person-centred in their approach and enthusiastic about working within a patient focussed environment that offers empowerment to service users and encourages them to build on their strengths.
The successful candidate will be required to make good links with a range of professionals, services and other resources to promote good patient experience and throughput.
You will have the opportunity to provide leadership and contribute to service development across the unscheduled care adult mental health service and actively contribute to quality improvement in this setting. The role also offers a commitment to your own development within the service and by the wider health board.
You will receive high quality supervision, support and training to further develop your skills and experience in a mental health setting as part of your continuous professional development.
Main duties of the job
The post will offer opportunity to be based in a multi-disciplinary team with a strong recovery focus. The OT role will utilise by The Model of Human Occupation and will support the post holder to make informed decisions with patients, and develop shared goals and plans.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
To manage a defined caseload within specialist area, using evidence based / client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention and maintain associated records.
To organise the workload efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time
To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stakeholders including the multi-disciplinary / multi-agency team to identify relevant goals.
To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor/team leader
To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in the Band 6 Developmental Programme and other developmental activities.
