Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Occupational Therapists to join the Occupational Therapy Team in Swansea Bay UHB. This post will be based in Singleton Hospital working within the Cancer service.

The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team. You will provide specialist assessment and goal directed intervention to patients in the cancer service. The successful candidate will also play a lead role in the development and evaluation of the service model and patient outcomes. Timely discharge planning experience is essential.

You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.

Main duties of the job

The role will be responsible for the management and development of the cancer service as well as maintaining a clinical caseload. A commitment to collaborative working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team is essential. We actively support the education of Occupational Therapy students within our service.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and clinical skills, experience of service development and quality improvement and be able to:

Manage a defined caseload within specialist area of cancer, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate.

Ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.

Work in partnership with clients, carers and all stake holders including the multidisciplinary/ multi agency team to identify relevant goals.

Provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor /team leader.

Regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.

Participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities.
