Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Swansea Bay University Health Board (as the host) to appoint a Training and Education Lead for the South Wales Trauma Network covering South Wales, West Wales and South Powys.

This role will support six Health Boards, Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) Cymru in the provision of Education and Training to the population of the Network. This recently established Network will ensure that our services work together to enable patients to receive the best care for life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

You will be a key member of the Network team, working closely with the Clinical Director, Network Manager, and other Network Clinical Leads. The post holder will receive support from the Operational Delivery Network.

The principle responsibilities of this role include providing the strategic direction, leadership and vision with regard to the planning and implementation of the rehabilitation pathway for major trauma within the network.

This role will be expected to work closely with:

  • Clinical Director for the network.
  • Network manager and clinical and managerial leads across the network
  • WAST and EMRTS.
  • Network leads for governance, paediatrics , quality improvement and research and rehabilitation.
  • Partner organisations (e.g. emergency planning).
  • Commissioning bodies.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for clinical leadership on the network wide provision of training and education across all staff groups ensure the delivery of high quality adult and paediatric trauma care across the network.

There will be a requirement for potential travel across South and West Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Through its delivery, the post-holder should aim to enhance clinical engagement across the network.
