A fantastic opportunity to join the SBU HB Finance Team has arisen & we are looking for a strong, strategic Finance Leader to undertake the post of Principal Finance Manager (Service Group).

This is a good opportunity, the Principal Finance Manager (PFM) will support the Finance Business Partner (FBP) in ensuring proactive financial management and financial control of the Service Group improve patient outcomes, experiences & deliver value for money.

The PFM will provide strong strategic financial leadership to the Service Group. Ensuring the Service Group focuses on delivering financial performance, supported by an excellent governance framework & embedding a culture of improvement with sound professional financial advice & support.

You will be a CCAB fully qualified accountant, with substantial post qualification experience. You will have excellent interpersonal, presentation, analytical & problem-solving skills & have experience of dealing with difficult situations & the ability to handle conflict in a positive & professional manner. You will be a compassionate & strategic leader & be able to effectively communicate & build strong working relationships with a range of internal & external stakeholders at all levels.

Main duties of the job

The PFM will support the FBP ensuring proactive financial management & financial control of Service Group resources at all levels of decision making & the effective utilisation of these resources to achieve value for money.

The PFM will have an understanding of the service aims & objectives of the services they support. The role will require an understanding of modern clinical practices & best value models

The post holder will provide highly developed specialist advice & in depth financial & business support for the service area to support the delivery of identified service & financial targets.

Supports the participation of the service area in national & local benchmarking projects.

The post holder will support the delivery & ongoing management of the efficiency, effectiveness, integrity & business focus of financial & business systems & processes within the service area.

Takes responsibility for managing 1 or more financial areas within the service, investigating & advising on highly complex issues & providing Management & Corporate reports, financial & business planning advice.

The post holder will support the delivery of service transformation, performance improvement & the delivery of value through the use of benchmarking & other BI tools.

The PFM will be responsible for the oversight of the Operational Finance Team staff within the Service Group encouraging their development through training & education, planning & implementing service modernisation & redesign.
