Job summary
An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the minor injuries service at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. We are seeking a Highly Specialist Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist to work alongside a team of experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Consultant Nurses. The unit manages over 50,000 patient a year and is one of the busiest of its types in the UK.
The post holder will assess and arrange investigations (as required) to diagnosis and treat / signpost appropriately for further action including; referral into fracture clinic, specialist hot clinics, physiotherapy or self-management advice. The role will involve developing extended scope of skills and abilities to manage various conditions such as; joint manipulation, reduction of fractures.
The role will also involve working in core physiotherapy service to provide mentorship and supervision to staff. This will also include training and observation sessions.
As a senior clinician, you will be involved in supporting service delivery and audit. You will work closely with other health care professional to ensure high quality care for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder should have extensive knowledge and experience in the MSK field with an interest in acute injury management. The role requires highly developed clinical reasoning skills to diagnose and implement appropriate management plan. The post holder will require strong communication skills to support patients during challenging times. The ability to adapt and work in a busy pressurised or changeable environment is also paramount. The role will require working outside of conventional hours to support the evening service.
Additionally the post holder will be required to work in a split job role providing assessment, diagnosis and management plans for MSK conditions in physiotherapy service. It is important to have strongexperience of evidence based practice underpinned by research. The post holder will be required to mentor and supervise Band 5/6 staff.
The role will involve supporting the education and development of others using various methods. While also identifying and actively pursuing personal development needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
