Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for clinical nurse specialists within for the Children and Young People Neurodevelopment service The post holder will function as an autonomous clinical practitioner and contribute to the multidisciplinary Neurodevelopmental Disorders assessments led by diagnosticians in the team (Consultants or Advanced Speech and Language Therapist).

We are ideally looking for candidates who have experience in ADHD/neurodevelopment , service development . However, there is potential for it to be a training post , further education/training within the field of ADHD/Neurodevelopment. In this case the successful candidate would start at a Band 6 and progress to a Band 7 once competencies have been completed.

The Specialist Nurse will contribute to and undertake assessment and evidence-based intervention with this population, their families and carers. They will provide and contribute experience and understanding of the knowledge and skills required to undertake the role of the Neurodevelopment Specialist Nurse within the wider team.

Working in Neurodevelopmental Disorders clinics and in community settings , provide comprehensive liaison and consultation to other professional bodies and agencies.

The post holder will need to communicate effectively with all multidisciplinary team colleagues and be professionally responsible to Head of Nursing for CYP Services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide expert advice and specialist nursing knowledge to children, young people and their families who attend the Neurodevelopmental Disorders clinics.

The post holder will be expected to work with families in clinic and community settings. They will also provide comprehensive liaison and consultation to other professional bodies and agencies. The post holder will be expected to use their own initiative, make clinical decisions and provide clinical direction for the team. The post holder will adhere to their professional body statutory requirements.

Liaison is a major component of this post. The post holder will liaise with colleagues from Education, Social Services, Child Health, Speech & Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Health Visiting, CAMHS and the voluntary sector or any agencies who are involved in managing a case.

The post holder will need to communicate effectively with all multidisciplinary team colleagues and be professionally responsible to Head of Nursing for CYP Services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
