Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to work with an award winning National Lymphoedema Team as a Lymphoedema Assistant Practioner. This post is permanent and is full time hours.

The post will support delivery of a Value-Based Lymphoedema Healthcare Service for Wales. You will support the National Lymphoedema Team in providing an evidence based lymphoedema assessment and treatment for the people with lymphoedema and at a high risk in Wales. Although a pan Wales service, the post is based in Cimla, Neath in SBUHB. There may be requirements to attend other Health Board services too for clinics.

This post will clinically support the Cellulitis Improvement Programme, providing a proactive approach to lymphoedema/ chronic oedema management. They will also work with other Lymphoedema National Team members in supporting Complex Clinics, Heart Failure Clinics, and the new Compression Garment Improvement Programme. Opportunities to support the Lymphatic Venous Anastomosis Super Micro Surgery service for Lymphoedema patients and Children and Young People with Lymphoedema service too. The post holder will work autonomously and be part of the national team. Participation in education courses and patient support groups will be an integral part of this role as well supporting data input for research, audit and evaluation.The ability to speak Welsh and to have a driving license is desirable for this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the National Lymphoedema Specialists ensuring the promotion of prompt effective treatment of Lymphoedema/chronic oedema across Wales.

The main aim being to ensure the NHS deliver Value-Based Healthcare providing prompt intervention and management strategies, which are patient, centred. They will support the delivery of high quality, compassionate, evidence-based care to a peoplewith Lymphoedema, Chronic oedema, cellulitis and wet legs following the initial assessment bythe Lymphoedema Specialists or Registered Practitioner utilising person-centred approaches, which promote health and independence.Under leadership and direction of the Lymphoedema Specialists ensure that all patients have appropriate individualised, clinical assessments/ risk assessments providing accurate feedback to the team as necessary.

They will assist with the delivery of education to all support staff within Clinic, Community and wound care services under the delegation and direction from the Lymphoedema Specialists.
