Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Head for Transformation to join Swansea Bay University Health Board's (SBUHB) Transformation and Operational Performance Team.

SBUHB are reviewing and redesigning the configuration of our planned care services in response to a range of key drivers, in particular; improving timely access to and the quality and safety of patient care; building a resilient and sustainable workforce; improving management of our planned care system; shifting care and resources, where appropriate and safe, from our hospitals into the community; and improving value and reducing waste to ensure a sustainable and safe planned care system.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Head for Transformation will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of a SBUHBs planned care model by supporting redesign of our planned care system. The model will include outpatients, diagnostics, surgery and theatres, and focus on reduction in delivering reduced waiting times and new models of care, applying learning from Covid-19 and best practice elsewhere. They will develop planned care service change, business case and implementation plans as well as governance models for agreed services and will support operational teams in delivering these new models.

The successful candidate will be responsible for project managers to ensure that alignment and interdependencies between these work streams and projects are proactively managed to enable the critical path for planned care to be delivered effectively and patient and system benefits achieved. They will ensure effective allocation and deployment of resources to accelerate the delivery of priority programmes and schemes,

The postholder will establish the PMO function, which will include building a highly skilled and specialist team.
