Job summary
To work within a multi disciplinary CAMHS team and provide therapeutic packages of care to children and young people and their families in both community and clinic settings and to provide care coordination under the Mental Health Wales (2010) Measure where appropriate.
The post holder will carry out comprehensive assessments within CAMHS, including assessments of self harm and risk and be responsible for a caseload of young people and families suffering with a variety of mental health difficulties.
The post holder will liaise closely with other agencies and professionals and provide consultation when required. There will also be a need to provide teaching and training to others.

To provide a consultative service to other agencies such as the Child Health Schools Psychological Service, Social Services, Health Visiting, and the Education Welfare Service, this consultation will be on specialised advice in relation to CAMHS.
To keep accurate contemporaneous records in accordance with the relevant standards
To respect the rules of confidentiality
To set up and run groups for clients e.g. social skills group, anger management if appropriate.
The post-holder will have a thorough understanding of consent to treatment issues and will effectively demonstrate analysis which leads to clinical judgment in client notes.
To be responsible for completing a psycho-social assessment of children who have attempted self-harm e.g. assess a young person in hospital following an overdose, assessments of this nature will include gathering information from the young person, the family and ward staff. This information will then be used to make a judgement of risk and whether the young person is safe enough to discharge from hospital.
To work as a member of the family therapy team where appropriate.
To make clinical decisions and work autonomously in a variety of settings, having an understanding of a range of work procedures and practises, which requires expertise underpinned by relevant clinical experience and knowledge within CAMHS.
