A fantastic opportunity to join the Swansea Bay University Health Board Finance Team, as part of the Operational Finance Team (OFT).

Following a restructure within the Department we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and professional CCAB qualified accountant to join our Finance Team as a full time Band 7 Finance Manager, to lead a team responsible for providing financial advice across the Health Board to support budgetary control and management processes.

We are looking to recruit dynamic, forwarding thinking individuals, who want to change and improve the way things are done within the Team and provide a first class service for the NHS. The Department is looking to encourage and support individuals in their development either through on the job learning and rotating through various part of the team to gain experience and/or through supporting formal accountancy qualifications.

Main duties of the job

You will support the preparation and completion of the statutory/NHS accounts and returns, ensuring that work is accurate and completed in line with financial timescales and legal requirements, interpreting these where necessary. The role will ensure financial information is processed in accordance with Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions and Financial Procedures through completion of own work and through coordination and supervision of the work of others.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the Operational Finance Team as well as providing guidance to team members and associated staff. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to ensure the new SBU HB Finance Team are continuingly improving by identifying areas of improvement and supporting the team in taking forward projects linked to these improvements, whilst maintaining excellent control and governance.

The post holder will support the Head of Accounting and Governance, and the Assistant Director of Finance, in managing the financial governance within the Finance department, to ensure robustness of systems and controls.

The post holder will have the opportunity to gain exposure to both financial and management accounts within the OFT, as it provides support for both Corporate teams and the FBPs, within the Service Groups.
