Job summary

The Endoscopy Unit is looking to recruit an Endoscopy Health Care Support Worker.

Applicants should be caring, enthusiastic and have a flexible approach to work with a drive to produce excellent patient care and support the Endoscopy Services. Applicants must be adaptable and flexible to the needs of the service and the changing needs of the Endoscopy service. This is a new post due to the expansion of the endoscopy services, base to be confirmed once in post, however the post holder would be required to work across all the endoscopy units. Working pattern will include weekend and evening working as required and the possibility of future on call duties.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Manual cleaning, decontamination and storage of endoscopes used. Recording use and completing all relevant paperwork and computer work relating to the endoscope.

Arranging for repair and loan endoscopes. Liaising with other endoscopy departments within the Health Board.

Patient Care

Assist the Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner in the assessment, on-going assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care.Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner, This will include: Performing patient observations: temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, blood glucose and urinalysis.Reports observations and any perceived changes noted in the patient's condition to the nurse in charge without delay.Support the Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner in the delivery of the fundamentals of care according to the needs of the patient. This will include providing feedback on progress against the plans.Recognises and effectively responds to emergency situations escalating support from the Registered Practitioner in a timely and appropriate manner.
