Job summary

The Audiology service deals with the assessment and management of hearing, tinnitus and balance in schools, primary and community locations and hospital settings. This role will principally be involved in hearing screening in school and community clinics, assisting paediatrics and assisting patients with the repair and maintenance of their hearing aids. The role holders will assist the senior audiology team with various clinical and administrative activities as described in the job description.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work in cooperation with the Head of Paediatric Audiology and other school entry hearing screener(s) but will be required to travel daily and independently to schools throughout the Health Board area to carry out screening. Within paediatric assessment and hearing aid clinics they will engage with children in order to assist with achieving reliable and consistent hearing test results and assisting the smooth running of clinics. Within the hearing aid service the post holder will carry out hearing aid repairs and maintenance and manage stock. Other activities may include auditing activity, administrative duties and communicating with patients and other professionals by telephone, email, text and in person.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and is looking for a new challenge or experience. It may also be an introduction to Audiology for someone who is exploring career options for the future.

Training will be provided.

Applicants should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with meticulous attention to detail. Minimum qualifications of GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent. Previous experience of working with children is required and working within a healthcare environment is desirable.
