Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Nurse Hysteroscopist depending across Neath Port Talbot and Singleton Hospital.

This opportunity is also available to applicants who do not fulfil the full criteria under Annex 21 to applicants who will work toward achieving the full skills, knowledge and experience required for the qualified post. Annex 21 successful applicant will have a set number of competencies required to achieve over an agreed period and will be supported, trained and developed during this time with a dedicated mentor, development plan and support. Salary is calculated dependent upon a number of factors and will be calculated relevant to the successful applicant.

This role offers a rare opportunity for an experienced nurse looking for new challenges and learning opportunities to develop further within this area of expertise. You will work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team and continue to enhance the nurse-led componentof the hysteroscopy service. We are seeking an individual who drives high standards of patient centred care in a challenging environment and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the hysteroscopy service, be adaptable to improve and drive the changing needs of the service forward.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will undertake the Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Therapeutic Management training and successfully complete the requirements of the PG Diploma module (Level 7) recognised by University of Bradford, England. There is an expectation that the post holder will need to enrol on this course for September 2023. On becoming an accredited Nurse Hysteroscopist, the post holder will be recognised by the British Society Gynaecological Endoscopy. They will provide an autonomous nurse-led service for women referred with abnormal uterine bleeding on the urgent suspected cancer pathway requiring hysteroscopic examination and will oversea the service in the absence of the consultant and lead nurse hysteroscopist. The post-holder will be able to offer and maintain a comprehensive service by seeing women (and performing the above) and where necessary make clinical decisions in relation to best evidence based practice.

The post holder will have the responsibility of ensuring safe clinical practice and confidentiality is carried out in the clinical environment as directed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) The Code, Health Board policies and in accordance with the Department of Health guidelines.

It is expected that interviews will take place week commencing 21st August 2023 due to the short turn around in applying for the University course for this year.
