Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our existing and increasingly developing physical Interventions training department. The role is to lead and steer the development of strategic and operational frameworks for the ongoing development, management, assessment, implementation and evaluation of the HB RRN training standard certified Physical Interventions Training; in respect of all staff across the SG, service user, families, local authorities, other health boards and independent organisations.
The Learning Disability Services within the Service Group currently has a cohort of 21 Health Trainers who are responsible for providing the training to various staff internally and to a wide variety of organisations inside and outside of Wales.
PBM ABMU - LD is a RRN Training Standards certified training organisation which holds responsibility for the governance and oversight of over 70 affiliated organisations across Wales and one of the key elements of this role will be in relation to assuring quality of training delivery and evidencing the reducing restrictive practice agenda. This position has be enhanced to enable the successful candidate, to lead this work alongside the lead trainers to further develop, obtain certification and work with all departments across MH&LD to embed an this model of training across other areas within the MH&LD Service Group.
Main duties of the job
To provide strategic leadership and oversight for all legislative developments and ensure that all PBM ABMU Trainers, LD, (once developed/certified MH, OMPH, Forensic and Neuro Rehab) are up to date and delivering such requirements consistently.
To project plan and lead the service developments for the training, including reviewing and evaluating the training and overall effectiveness of the training team
To lead on the completion of and the ongoing certification process, prepare and deliver presentations, representative of the training organisation (Health Board) to the certificating body.
To lead on the development of additional PBM ABMU training packages - MH, Forensic, OPMH, Neuro Rehab etc.
To develop and lead on research projects
To raise the profile and engage with all services across the delivery unit to broaden understanding and recruit Trainers from across professional disciplines and within various roles to assist in the succession planning of the training organisation
To represent PBM ABMU and the Health Board at national and local level
Lead on the liaison with provider organisations
Lead on raising the profile of the training package and in securing new business across Wales and England
To ensure that effective governance structures and reporting mechanisms are in place linking the training organisation with the Health Board and national requirements
To lead on and provide operational and clinical leadership to the other members of the training team
