An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Offender Personality Disorder Team based in Bridgend for a Assistant Psychologist.
This post is to support ODPP IIRMS Intervention - Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT).
The post will take a lead in the organisation and delivery of MBT-I sessions run for OPDP service users.
The role will also support the wider OPDP team with other activities across South East and South West Wales.
Main duties of the job
The Post holder will primarily support the Wales OPDP team with Mentalization Based Therapy. You will be involved in organisational support of the intervention, delivering MBT Introduction sessions, administering psychometrics and additional administrative and clinical tasks for the intervention. In the course of your duties you will:
Support the wider OPDP team with activities such as training anddevelopment, staff support, consultation and formulations across South East and South West Wales.
Record data and administrative support in addition to the above duties and a flexible, friendly and helpful approach would be an advantage.Able to work with a high level of autonomy.
Cover the OPDP south-east and south-west delivery sites and you will need to drive between those sites. There is likely to be a proportion of virtual working from home. You will need to be resilient to work from home connecting virtually with a number of OPDP staff members and probation staff.
You will be supervised by a qualified practitioner psychologist and have regular clinical supervision.

- An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Knowledge of Mentalization Based Therapy
- High standard of clinical and audit/research report writing.
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of forensic service users / service users presenting with personality disorder traits
- An understanding of psychology applied to personality disorder and forensic settings, and the ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context.
Desirable
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, personality disorder, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis- Inc. Masters
