Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, qualified and registered psychological therapist to join Swansea Bay CAMHS. The post holder will join a friendly and very well regarded psychology and psychological therapy (P&PT) team, consisting of psychologists, systemic family therapists, art therapists, CBT and EMDR therapists. This is an exciting time of development and change for Swansea Bay CAMHS, who have recently been repatriated to Swansea Bay UHB and are developing and strengthening relationships and links with other children and young people's services.

The CAMHS P&PT team also belong to the broader child psychology and psychological therapy department and the post holder will join a thriving, friendly and supportive network of psychologists and psychological therapists working with children. Both the CAMHS P&PT team and the broader child P&PT department meet regularly for networking, sharing resources, CPD and reflective practice.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering psychological interventions to children and young people referred to CAMHS along with their families/carers.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Provide high intensity, specialist evidence-based psychological therapy interventions (requiring psychological therapist specialist training) as designated in Matrics Plant.
  • Be a highly skilled clinician with a breadth of mental health expertise and core professional qualification in this field. They will work collaboratively with multi disciplinary workers in the development and implementation of specialist psychological therapy in the context of complex care.
  • Supervise psychological therapists developing practice in this field, and /or working towards accreditation as appropriate, and lower banded psychological therapists and psychological therapy practitioners.
  • Deliver training to, and support the development of appropriate skills in, other workers.
  • Function autonomously and independently on a day to day basis and will provide specialist services that involve forming judgements, analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of complex clinical information.
  • Advise on, contribute to, and implement policies and service development and participate in research and audit projects.
  • Be responsible for the systematic governance of his/her practice within the remit of professional ethics and UHB policies and procedures, including ensuring ongoing accreditation and appropriate Continuing Professional Development activities, in agreement with the HOS/Line manager.
