Job summary

The Audiology department is concerned with testing hearing and balance function of patients of all ages. It also supplies several thousand hearing aids to adults and children each year. The service is now being extended in scope to deliver ear care / wax removal services in primary care locations.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will primarily be involved with providing audiological support in hospital based clinics in Singleton Hospital, Neath Port Talbot Hospital and Morriston Hospital, with less frequent travel to other clinic sites in the health board. The successful candidates may be required to provide ear care and assessment within Primary Care settings dependent on skills and experience.

The postholder will be expected to perform audiological investigations, create individual patient management plans, take aural impressions and prescribe hearing aid systems using real ear measurements. May also be expected to carry out domiciliary visits to housebound patients and visit patients on hospital wards to carry out hearing aid maintenance.

Applicants should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with meticulous attention to detail. Minimum qualifications are an undergraduate degree in Audiology or equivalent. Previous experience of working in a technical capacity within an audiology department is essential.
